Blackie-O's Big Adventure.

So last Saturday, I hopped on that Chinatown bus to Philly at the last minute. I was supposed to go onstage with Juiceboxxx for one tune called the "Love Anthem". I was excited, but the club opening was cancelled and when I got there I couldn't reach Tommy Up of Paper-Street. Who had arranged for me to come out and then went awol until the next day. His mobile was being blown up because of the cancellation. I couldn't get ahold of anyone actually. I knew of two places to go so I was fine.
I went to a fantastic bar on Bank St. called The Griffin in Old Philly to meet up with John Schenk. AKA Tantrum Tonic. He's 54, amazing, creative, and my new friend. He spins ambient pop and plays 4 tracks at the same time interwoven seamlessly. He played my favorite music, and opened my ears to some new sounds. You will never get the same set with this man. He teaches over at the university. He is also a great photographer and like his music, his photos are surreal, layered and textural. A real treat. We have decided to collaborate on some music and to do a photo series with me as his muse.
After that, I ran over to Transit, to get in some more dancing in. I was hoping Tommy was gonna be there. I wanted to stick my backpack in his truck. He had promised I could crash at his loft and watch "Get A Life" with him. You fucking owe me Tommy! I am sending you the invoice for all my drinks, the bus trip, the tattoo portrait, Jay's and I's supper at fucking Midway.
Plastic Little were performing there but I missed their set. I ran into Jay so I didn't have pay to get in and I ran straight to the massive speakers and danced in the corner. Dan the Swede was great. I needed that. Thanks man. We left and I got a drunk walking tour of Philly. Cobblestone streets and a few history lessons. Jay took me to Midway Diner for some late night lox and then I crashed at his place hugging a Little Nemo stuffed clown fish. Awww......Drunk and retarded.
In the afternoon Tommy picked me up and we rolled to a kick ass barbeque. Moosehead beer and ate some crazy shrimp bacon stuffing in hotdogs. Best new dish! Yum!I am still dreaming 'bout it. His friends were great and I didn't want to leave. But I had to get back to work right away. I cannot wait until my next trip over there. I heart Philly.
